Mayor Philip Levine and the U.S. Conference of Mayors Leadership Team Will Visit Volunteer Supply Center for Puerto Rico Relief in Miami, Along with Key West on the First Day Officially Open for Tourists
Miami Beach, Fla. - Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and the leadership team of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, led by New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, will tour a volunteer warehouse facility in Miami at 8:00 a.m on Sunday morning. At the facility, the delegation will thank volunteers for their work coordinating national supplies, and speak with lead organizers from various groups (Puerto Rico Rises, Luckylion Group, Activados Por Puerto Rico, Reach Out America, Mana, ConPRmetidos and Unidos Por Puerto Rico) about the challenges they are facing with sending relief to Puerto Rico.
Following this, the delegation will fly to Key West to meet with local leaders and offer support. After aggressive post-Hurricane Irma recovery efforts, the Florida Keys will re-open to tourists starting this nday, October 1. As the community continues to recover from the powerful impacts of Hurricane Irma, our southernmost neighbors have made a remarkable and resilient comeback after a historic storm.
